It has probably been a question asked by every PR pro who has
prepared a presentation for anyone: where to get stock clip art in
a flash without spending gobs of money at Comstock, Corbis or
Photodisc.
Microsoft, perhaps somewhat surprisingly to some, is here to help.
The company has developed a web site for licensed users of several
of its products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PhotoDraw, and
FrontPage, among others) that offers a searchable database of
thousands of free images, animations, sounds, clip art, and
photos.
Microsoft's Design Gallery Live, accessible at http://dgl.microsoft.com,
offers a wealth of multimedia quite suitable for use by the
business professional. Searches can scan for nearly any subject or
topic and can be narrowed to identify the specific form of artwork
retrieved, such as photo, clip art, sound, or video.
Content is even helpfully broken up into various categories, such
as healthcare, weather, technology, and communications.
The files download in a proprietary format used only by Microsoft
products. However, the process is relatively straightforward,
relying on the tried-and-true click-and-drag process.
With hundreds of images available online, be sure to give
Microsoft's Design Gallery Live a try.
